Onboard Etiquette Guide
Being together on a catamaran is a wonderful experience. To ensure a harmonious, peaceful, and premium holiday for everyone onboard, please follow these simple rules of yacht etiquette.
SHOES & CLEANLINESS
- STREET SHOES BANNED: Street shoes must be removed before stepping onto the boat. They bring dirt, sand, and stones that damage the teak and fiberglass.
- DECK SHOES ONLY: Only clean, non-marking, white-soled deck shoes or boat shoes may be worn on deck.
- BAREFOOT INSIDE: No shoes of any kind are allowed inside the salon or cabins to keep the living spaces clean and comfortable.
- WET SWIMWEAR: Never sit on the interior fabric cushions or salon sofa in wet swimwear. Use the exterior cockpit cushions instead.
EXPLORING & LEARNING ONBOARD
- ASK BEFORE TOUCHING: Do not touch, pull, or play with the ropes, winches, buttons, or navigation screens on your own. Operating yacht equipment without guidance can be highly dangerous.
- LEARN FROM THE CAPTAIN: If you want to explore how the yacht works, please ask! The captain will be really happy to explain everything, show you the systems, and teach sailing concepts to a truly interested guest.
- GET INTEGRATED: If you would like or might enjoy being integrated into the actual sailing operations—such as handling lines, steering, or assisting with maneuvers—please tell the crew beforehand. We love having you active on deck if you want to participate!
SPACE & TIDINESS
- STOW YOUR GEAR: Keep personal items, bags, and shoes stowed inside your cabin. Common areas like the salon and cockpit must remain completely clutter-free for safe movement.
- HATCH MANAGEMENT: Always close your cabin deck hatches tightly when the boat is moving or when leaving the yacht. An unexpected wave or rain shower will quickly flood your bed.
- FRIDGE EFFICIENCY: Open the refrigerators briefly and close them immediately. Marine fridges lose cold air instantly, draining the boat's batteries.
RESOURCES & CONSERVATION
- WATER IS PRECIOUS: Fresh water is finite onboard. Turn off the tap while brushing teeth, soaping up in the shower, or washing dishes. Navy showers (wet, turn off, soap, rinse) are highly encouraged.
- POWER SAVING: Turn off all cabin lights, fans, and individual air conditioning units whenever you leave your room.
- NO WASTE IN THE SEA: Absolutely nothing goes overboard. Secure loose napkins, plastic cups, and wrappers so the wind does not blow them into the water.
NOISE & COMMUNITY
- MARINA COURTESY: Keep music, loud talking, and shouting to a minimum when docked in a marina or anchored in a quiet bay, especially after 10:00 PM. Sound travels incredibly far over water.
- CREW PRIVACY: Respect the crew's workspace and downtime. Avoid entering the galley (kitchen) or helm station unless invited or in an emergency.
